Dr. Kristina A. Bosnar, D.C., CACCP

- Clinic Director, Chiropractor
– Prenatal and Postpartum & Pediatric Specialist

Dr. Kristina Bosnar is a chiropractor with a special focus on prenatal, postpartum and pediatric care. A graduate from New York Chiropractic College in 1999 she has had her own multidisciplinary practice since the spring of 2000.

Dr. Bosnar believes in an integrated and holistic approach to the prenatal, post-partum and pediatric care. She has been a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA, since she was a student, where she was introduced to the alterations in biomechanics and nervous system function that may occur in the pre and postnatal body, and the benefits of chiropractic care for both mother and child through the entire perinatal period.

As a mother of three (one c-section and two home VBAC) Dr. Bosnar has experienced the challenges that can face a new mother in the postpartum period. Working extensively with midwives and ob-gyns in the Toronto area for the last 17 years, she is focused on supporting a woman physically and emotionally through the wonderful and unexpected challenges that can occur from the prenatal to the postpartum period.

Dr. Bosnar’s goal in the prenatal period is simple – restoration of normal spinal and pelvic neurobiomechanics which equates to more comfortable pregnancies with less pain and discomfort, and easier, shorter and more natural births.

Dr. Bosnar has been trained in the Webster In-Utero Constraint technique which focuses on improvement of neurobiomechanical function in the pelvis. In regards to pregnant mothers, Dr. Webster, who developed the technique, reported that when a mother sought care and her baby was in a breech position, the restoration of pelvic neurobiomechanics with this technique also frequently facilitated optimal fetal positioning.

Throughout her practice, Dr. Bosnar has found that balance in the pregnant pelvis has lead to restoration of normal vertex positioning for breech presentations, shorter and less painful labors, and less interventions for mother and child.

Postpartum, Dr. Bosnar provides her new mothers with support in the following areas:

  • Breastfeeding/Latching
  • Coccydynia
  • Neck and Back pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Diastasis Recti Assessment
  • Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
  • Persistent Pelvic pain

Pediatric care:

Dr. Bosnar’s passion for treating newborns and children comes from the strong belief that and understanding of the exponential growth of the nervous system during the first decade of life, and how any insult, even a traumatic birth, can shape the course of a child’s neurological development. Treating newborns and children in her practice is a privilege and a joy for Dr. Bosnar. What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a branch of the health sciences which focuses upon the body’s neuromusculoskeletal system. A chiropractor is concerned with how your body’s skeletal and nervous system is functioning. Since your spine is the key highway for your central nervous system, a chiropractor is trained to use a variety of diagnostic methods to examine and treat your spine and bone structure.

Although the major focus of chiropractic is on the spine and central nervous system, your chiropractor is concerned with the wellness of your whole body. Since your nervous system determines how well you feel physically, mentally, and emotionally, many problems you are experiencing may be related to a problem with your spine and nervous system.

The Chiropractic Philosophy

Chiropractors believe in whole body wellness. Wellness means many things to different people. To your chiropractor, wellness is the state of health where your body is free of interruption or interference to any part of your nervous system, enabling you full expression and enjoyment of life. Chiropractic care works to ensure that your nervous system is working fine, and this enhances your well being.

Your chiropractor will discover any problems that are interfering with your nervous system and through hands-on-healing will work with you to eliminate them. After chiropractic care your body will be better able to heal itself. This, in turn, aids your body in maintaining optimum health and contributes to your overall wellness. Chiropractors believe in a holistic approach to health and healing, and have spearheaded this powerful health care trend in North America. (Ontario Chiropractic Association)
